As co-head of CRA's consulting practice, Alan Nelson advises management on the use of communication in addressing corporate challenges and opportunities. His focus is communication within the boundaries of the organization and its governance structure, and he specializes in the communication of C-suite executives as they lead their organizations. His recent clients include Cargill, Coke, Dell, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Kaiser Permanente, McDonald’s, and Prudential.
A frequent speaker on internal communication and leadership communication, Alan’s perspectives have been published in the New York Times, Fast Company, Representative American Speeches, and Reputation Management: The Key to Successful Public Relations and Corporate Communication. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, and is an Adjunct Professor at the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame where he teaches a post-graduate course on Leadership Communication. In 2010 he was awarded the Arnie Ludwig award for outstanding teaching by the university.
Alan has degrees in Speech Communication and Political Science from the University of Utah. A native of Salt Lake City, he lives outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife and son. His hobbies include astronomy, fly fishing, photography, and enjoying the Utah wilderness.
