Turnaround At Nissan
We’re not reading it yet, but based on this review in last Sunday’s New York Times David Magee’s recent book about Carlos Ghosn and the turnaround at Nissan — Turnaround: How Carlos Ghosn Rescued Nissan — may be worth the time. This line in particular caught our interest:
At the same time, Mr. Ghosn promised that he and the rest of Nissan’s executive committee would quit if Nissan did not turn a profit in 2000. Achieving that goal, of course, required many changes that challenged the ethos of postwar Japanese business, Mr. Magee writes, but the lessons relating to corporate internal communication and commitment offer a kind of primer for businesses elsewhere.
Quite a promise, and an excellent example of a convincing decision that lends credibility to senior leadership and their strategy message.
