As co-head of CRA's Internal Communication Consulting practice, Alan Nelson advises management on how to use communication to fulfill strategy, improve performance, and manage change. His specialty is leadership communication, and in particular, the communication of C-suite executives, and his recent clients include Carlson, Capital One, Cargill, IBM, McDonald’s, and Merrill Lynch.
A frequent speaker on internal communication and leadership communication, Alan’s perspectives have been recently published in the New York Times, Fast Company, Representative American Speeches, and the new text, Reputation Management: The Key to Successful Public Relations and Corporate Communication. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, and at the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
Alan has degrees in Speech Communication and Political Science from the University of Utah. A native of Salt Lake City, he is also founder of Strengthen The Good LLC, a non-profit that uses online social networks to build awareness for small charities, and The Minnesuing Group, an invitation-only peer group for senior communication officers.
Alan lives in Berwyn, Pennsylvania with his wife Katherine. His hobbies include distance running, astronomy, photography, and the deserts of South-Central Utah.
